2024年11月18日 · Reliability, engine design BMW S38. A new sporty engine called S38B36 was designed especially for the 1988 BMW M5 E34. The engine was based on the M88/3 (S38B35), with the related M30B34 series, the S38 has less in common (although with a certain degree of fanaticism, the M30B34 can be converted to the S38).

2011年5月7日 · As we scheduled two hours for this (experience based), we had some time to measure the intake vacuum on member Stoffie’s E24 M635CSI. The conclusion is that the intake vacuum varied between the six cylinders slightly, but not that much.

2008年6月9日 · Saturday I took home a 1985 Euro M635csi, Black on Black, 111,500 miles. Has been stored for about 8 years. Carfax last saw it at 108,000 in texas in 2001. Body - Excellent shape for a 23 year old car. Paint is really amazing and does not appear to have ever been resprayed. Very, very solid, no rust not even a bubble or scratch.

The US E24 M6 and E28 M5's used the S38 (called the S38 B35), a catalyzed 256HP version of the M88/3 with some other updates. The two motors are have a great deal of parts interchange - my M635 is getting the S38 dual-chain conversion along with other S38 bits as I get my timing chain tensioner and rails done.

The S38 B35 was a revision of M88/3 with dual-row timing chain, reduced compression, catalyst-equipped and fitted with tubular exhaust manifolds rather than equal length "bundle of snakes" headers.

2013年6月26日 · The M88 rocker cover won't fit on an S38 as it is too short. The S38 timing chain chest is deeper and the head, cam box and rocker cover are longer to match it. Your engine is fitted with an M88 fuel rail as it has the cold start injector and the M88 cooling pipe above the exhaust headers as it has 3 sensors not 2.

2012年12月15日 · Les dernieres M635 csi 1989 etaient equipée du moteur S38 en 3.5 litres et plus du M88/3. Le S38 est passé en 3.6 et 3.8 sur les M5 E34 ( moteur au comportement différent et surtout un moteur de serie ) alors que les M88 sortaient directement de chez Motorsport.
