The Type 64 (TL64, Chinese: 六四式) is the designation of two distinct Cold War -era light tank projects of the Republic of China Armed Forces, in service from 1975.

The Object 268 (Объект 268) was a prototype Soviet tank destroyer developed from 1952 to 1956 by the Kirov factory, Leningrad, on the basis of the T-10 heavy tank. [1] This tank destroyer was heavily armoured and featured a 152 mm M64 gun, derived from the 152mm M53 mounted on the SU-152G.

The M64 (Chinese: 六四式戰車) was an attempt by the ROCA to develop domestically produced tanks in Taiwan using parts from the M18 GMC and M42 Duster. In the 1970s, the ROCA's existing fleet of M18 GMC tanks was ageing, and there was a shortage of light tank replacements.
