It is a four color, high contrast disruptive pattern with irregular markings in green, brown, sand and black. It is also known unofficially by its colloquial moniker of " M81 " after the Battle Dress Uniform it was first used on, [3] though this term was not officially used by the U.S. military.

Despite its age-old introduction during the 60s as the Vietnam war raged, the United States Army USGI M81 Woodland Poncho Liner, affectionately nicknamed the Woobie, can still be seen in use to this day by active members of the US military in every branch.

The U.S. Army engineered the Woodland pattern to maximize concealment at 350 meters as operational theaters moved from the Asian jungles to the European plains during the Cold War. It became the Armed Forces' default pattern starting in 1981 and served for over 20 years until the early to mid 2000s. Twenty years later... we still love it.
