2021年4月17日 · The MC-5 was introduced in 1964 with the A model. It was 96 in wide and 35 ft long, seating 41. It came with GM’s 6 or 8V71 engines, and a Fuller or Spicer 4-speed manual transmission. The Motor Coach Industries MC-5 series were highway coaches produced from 1963-80. The Canadian version was named the MCC-5 and MCC-5A. They featured two baggage doors on each side unlike the previous models and optional power steering. 267 were built in total. 266 were production units and one was a MCX-5 prototype.

The MC-5C was MCI's last 35 foot coach in the MC series and was produced from 1977 through 1980. It was substantially different from previous MC-5 models, incorporating much of the improvements of the MC-8 in a 35 foot model.

During the production years, the basic MC-5 was updated with A, B, and finally C added to the basic model number. Even after the 40-foot MC-7 was introduced, the MC 5 remained in production as the 35-foot version of the popular MCI series of intercity coaches. Production quantity for the MC-5, MC-5A and MC-5B is 2,255.

The model MC-5 was the first in a series of new MCI coaches completed and delivered to Greyhound Lines in the United States. MCI built 300 model MC-5s in 1963 and 1964; 261 were assigned to Western Greyhound Lines.

We bought it for our own charter services, however the market changed and decided to add it to our vintage fleet instead given its pristine condition. This coach was purchased new by the Gulf Oil CO., used to transport their executives. Later sold to Gray Line Tours of Houston, TX, then on to a Baptist church in Hillsborough Texas.
