Jesse and his/her surviving friend are introduced to the Old Builders: Hadrian, Mevia, and Otto, who express frustration at the group's unplanned interference in the games. Otto reveals that Lukas and Ivor/Petra are not dead, explaining that eliminated competitors respawn and are sent to work in the Quartz Mines as punishment.
