2019年6月30日 · If spark plugs are dry, try removing the air cleaners, squirt some carburetor cleaner into each carb, and try to start it. If it starts, revs, and dies, then you likely have a fuel delivery problem... Dick

2011年9月29日 · My MGB (a 1972 Roadster--it's the one beside my avatar; you can see all of the specs by clicking on it) will crank every time but won't actually start. This problem occurred around a week and a half ago, and I thought I had the problem narrowed down to the coil.

2020年6月23日 · 78 MGB turns over but wont fire. Have replaced plugs, wires, points distr cap, red rotor, condenser, ignition relay. Sprayed starting fluid in carb, no fire, so pretty sure it is electric.

2022年1月28日 · Car turns over will not start. Appears the carbs are not getting enough fuel. Disconnect the fuel line from the carbs. Coming out slow.....Please Help. That old could be the fuel pump, bad fuel lines from the tank, plugged pickup screen inside the fuel tank.

2012年3月10日 · Failing that the starter is drawing too much current from a poor battery and there isn't enough at the plugs or the coil is breaking down, but check the obvious (ie the settings) before replacing...

2004年3月3日 · It's probably the solenoid or relay that moves the starter motor onto the ring gear - first thing to try is a brand new battery or a jump start - even a "fully charged" old battery may no longer be able to supply enough juice. The second thing to check is that the battery terminals are clean and free from corrosion.

2015年4月2日 · 1, A 78 MGB has a ignition relay. If that is bad it will run when in the start position but die when released. (as mentioned in your first post). 2, See if the coil is wired properly. It will run wired wrong but may lead to a overheated coil breaking down and needs to cool.

2023年12月24日 · I’m be inclined to replace the starter before you follow my path. The new smaller higher yield starter units make for a good clean crank and start. I ended up effectively isolating each section to check for wiring faults and rigged up an under bonnet start button to remove the ignition switch from the mix
