2010年1月6日 · The EMD FP45 is a six axle, 3,600 HP diesel-electric locomotive built in 1967 for the Atchinson, Topeaka & Santa Fe (ATSF) Railway and the Milwuakee Road (MILW). The locomotive was a cowl version of the EMD SDP45 and featured a wide nosed, two window cab that was a precursor to the more modern North American Safety Cab.

There were only five Milw FP-45s; not a suffficient quantity to make a fuss over. There was plenty of surplus passenger power that was better suited for commuter service (and Milw's undermaintained track). Someday I'll post my version of the FP-45 history.

2007年5月27日 · The FP45 had a steam generator to heat passenger trains, while the F45 was strictly for freight. The FP45’s were 5’ longer, which was added behind the radiators for the steam equipment- The only FP45 locomotives went to the ATSF (9) and the Milwaukee Road (5). i never knew the difference between the 2 so someone can help hopefully.

In August, 1971, a MILW F45 was sitting around the Bensonville, IL, facility. Nice pic, thanks for sharing. Just a minor nit, it's "Bensenville". I spent a lot of time along Green Street south of the diesel shop during my late teens/early twenties. By the time I got a real camera, the FP45's and SD45's had been sidelined.

The 'Milwaukee Memories Pt. 2' post on the Nostal with the pic of MILW FP-45 made me wonder when they were retired and what happened to them later. If I remember right, they didn't last nearly as long as ATSF F- and FP-45's or as even as long as BN's F-45's.
