Mk3 has a ton of armor on it. Mk7 is the latest and most produced, and is the most cross-compatible. Maybe it is easier to manufacture? Mk8 has better power systems and armor placement, but cross-compatibility is broken. Also from what I was told, Mk4 armor is possibly the only Pre-Heresy armor that is at par with the more modern power armor.
