The White Pass and Yukon Route Class DL-535E (sometimes known as the MLW-Worthington Model Series C-14) is a series of narrow-gauge diesel locomotives that were custom-built by the Montreal Locomotive Works of Montreal, Quebec in Canada between 1969 and 1971 for the White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&Y) in Skagway, Alaska.

Four units were built by Bombardier in September 1982, but and delivery was delayed. Two were delivered to United States Gypsum as USG #112 and 113 in 1984. One of the unit was destroyed and replaced by unit #111. After a delay of 14 years, unit #114 was delivered to the White Pass and Yukon in 1994.

Following is a list of diesel locomotives built by the Montreal Locomotive Works, a Canadian subsidiary of the American Locomotive Company from 1904-1964. 2025年3月24日 · "White Pass & Yukon DL-535E #114 - WRECKED!" was posted at Railroad.net. The 4 DL535E's #111-114 were the last locomotives built by BBD (the former MLW)... The second batch of the original 1969 WP&Y DL535's (#101 series) were on the construction floor at Alco (in 1971) when the builder closed it's doors.

2023年12月31日 · Montreal Locomotive Works DL535E diesel locomotives have proven to be versatile narrow-gauge haulers made famous by a garden railway staple. White Pass & Yukon DL535E No. 101 meets a cruise ship at the Skagway, Ak., dock on Aug. 20, 1978. At the time, the railroad still operated freight trains utilizing locomotives for each service as needed.

Based on the existing design of the ALCO/MLW DL535, these locomotives share many major similarities, the most obvious difference being the wide Canadian cab. One of the four built eventually made it to the WP&YR to enter service, while the other three were purchased by US Gypsum to operate on their three foot gauge Plaster City railroad.

BAP's DL535. There are narrow gauge and broad gauge DL535 in Argentina. MLW delivered the 40 ng units, while ALCo shipped the 70 5'6" units. So far, only the latter are to be seen here.

2022年9月20日 · Before their completion, Alco ended locomotive manufacturing at Schenectady, and in early 1969 transferred the completion of the units to subsidiary Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW). At virtually the same time Neil Armstrong was taking man’s first steps on the moon, the seven DL535s began to arrive in Skagway.
