2022年9月29日 · Here's a GP9 in the CN 15 scheme, celebrating the railway's privatization. This is not a terribly common scheme. I was lucky to run into GP9 7256 a few years ago on a brief stopover at Sarnia Yard in July 2021. It was pulling a long string of hoppers in the yard, with a carbon black from Cabot Carbon first in the consist behind 7052.

2024年12月19日 · The GP9 saw even higher sales than its predecessor and remaining steam holdouts like the Norfolk & Western purchased large fleets of the model to finally retire the iron horse forever from remaining Class 1 systems. Today, hundreds of GP9s remain in operation on short lines, or in use at tourist railroads.

The EMD GP9 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division in the United States, and General Motors Diesel in Canada between January, 1954, and August, 1963. US production ended in December, 1959, while an additional thirteenunits were built in Canada, including the last two in August, 1963.

2009年2月16日 · EMD’s GP9 & GP18 far surpassed the RS11/RS18 in sales across N/A. The C424 production was 190 units built. MLW built another 92 units after Alco folded. There are no C424’s operating on Class 1 railroads that I am aware of. There are still GP30/GP35’s(remanufactured) in operation on BNSF, for example.
