Here are the answers to frequently asked questions, Most have been provided by the MM2H One Stop Centre. The answers are only applicable for people joining the revised programme introduced in 2024

All new and renewal applications must be submitted through the MM2H One-Stop Centre. Immigration-related matters and approvals are regulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Some states set lower (and higher) limits. It is not necessary to have an MM2H visa in order to buy a house in Malaysia. You can apply for a bank loan in Malaysia for the purpose of purchasing a property. The bank will usually want you to repay the loan before reaching the age of 65 or 70.

APPROVED MM2H VISA APPLICATIONS The figures below show the number of primary applicants approved. In many cases the applicants have spouses, and some come with children. The information below comes from government sources. In 2019 many applicants were rejected for reasons which were never explained.

The government has announced a MM2H visa exclusively for Special Financial Zones (SFZ). Currently, there is only one SFZ and that is the Forest City development, next to the second bridge crossing from Johor to Singapore.

Sabah has its own version of the MM2H visa for people who would like to live there. There are three tiers – Silver, Gold and Platinum with the last one permitting holders to work. Where the requirements for each tier are different, it is stated below

MM2H Platinum – RM70,000 The fees include various government charges that have been introduced over the last few years such as the processing fee and even the annual visa for the duration of the visa.
