Toyota introduced the first-generation Toyota MR2 in late 1984, designating it with the model code "W10". The Base Model was initially introduced with the naturally aspirated 4A-GE 1,587 cc (1.6 L) inline-four engine with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
