2023年5月23日 · Here is my new to me MSA Classic SS Sustain II. This is the lightest pedal steel that I have ever picked up. It is perfect for brining the steel sound into our 1950 R&R Band. Now all I have to do is learn how to play it. Can anyone tell me when the Classic SS was introduced.

2008年7月10日 · I'm with you Dale. Back in my early steel days, the main 3 steel manufacturers were Sho-Bud, Emmons & MSA. I was switching from non-pedal to pedals and chose an Emmons student model. For years I didn't like the tone of an MSA, but knew they were well built. Chalker was a great player, pioneer and stylist. I just never thought his tone was great.

2008年5月31日 · Just a quick note on pedal steel prices back then. MSA, and most other builders, seldom sold guitars for their "list price". The idea of having two prices (a list price and a discounted price) was a rather stupid one, IMHO, and likely they had many delayed or missed purchases because of it.

2007年11月23日 · Tim.. Many E9 MSA guitar in the 70's were shipped standard with 5 pedals on the E9 single neck models, not unusual at all.. No other company did this unless it was a custom order, so it confuses non MSA players... As far as pickups, if you can see the small round magnets on top it is a standard MSA single coil unit..

2013年9月4日 · An MSA will never sound like thst. The trick to making an MSA sound good is not to try to duplicate the Emmons or Sho Bud sound, but to tweak the amp to accentuate it's natural characteristics. My former green steel wasn't bright and trebly, and didn't have much twang, but it had a beautiful deep rich warm midrange tone.

2006年9月30日 · In defense of the MSA team. The Covid 19 restrictions have not been kind to them either. As for the rest of us, not many of us have played much since March and Steel Guitar shows have been canceled. I have other guitars and the need for a new one is not really that urgent. The new MSA I am sure will be worth the wait. Ron
