The Suzuki MT50 (called Trailhopper in the West, Hopper 50 in Japan) was a compact pleasure bike called Trail Hopper in the North American market where it debuted in 1970. Equipped with a fuel tank made of lightweight hard polyethylene that is sealable by closing the fuel cock, the bike could be laid flat in the trunk of a car.

Introduced by Suzuki in 1972, the MT50 ‘Trail Hopper’ was an obvious stab at Honda’s at the Mini-Bike market dominated by Honda with their superb Monkey Bike. It was a good effort; the air-cooled two-stroke put out a crisp 3.0hp from it’s advanced disc-valve induction system.
