The name stands for “military transport, 500cc” and there was also an MT350, which was fitted with a 350cc engine.

MT350s don't need much modification. We have heard that a 500cc conversion is possible, using the MT500 top end. It is up to you whether you want the forward-mounted panniers and frames. They are more useful than they seem if you need to carry heavy stuff.

The MT350 general purpose military motorcycle has far outlived its life expectancy - a testament to the bike's design and strength.

Rated for 32 hp and 28 lb-ft of torque, it wasn’t exactly a screaming demon of rip-your-face-off power, but it got the job done. By today’s standards, it was a buzzy engine, but that’s true of most thumpers of that era.
