The highest point of the Krn Mountains is Mount Krn (with the same name). It is a real alpine hiking paradise. It does not stand out in terms of height, as there are several higher peaks in Slovenia (see Triglav at 2,864 m).

Krn (pronounced [ˈkəɾn]; 2,244 metres or 7,362 feet) is a mountain in northwestern Slovenia. It is the highest peak of the Krn Mountains, a sub-chain of the southwestern Julian Alps. Krn is located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) from the Adriatic.

From Krn you see well the Adriatic coast, the rest of hilly Slovenia, all high peaks of Julian Alps and a picturesque neighbourhood with fresh green valleys and turquoise Soča river.

2021年8月24日 · Mt. Krn is the highest mountain of the Krn Mountain range and one of the most easily accessible two-thousand-metre-high mountains in the Soča Valley. The access from the Kuhinja Mountain pasture is relatively simple but long because of the high altitude difference.

Try this 8.7-mile loop trail near Kobarid, Kobarid. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 7 h 17 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Start at the clearly marked parking lot.

Mt. Srednji vrh and Mt. Krnčica are peaks in Mt. Krn Mountain chain. This tour is also interesting from the historical point of view because you come across numerous remnants of World War I. From the Pri koritu parking lot you follow the marked trail towards the Vrata Mountain pass.

Krn is a very popular mountain and its typical shape catches glances from far away. Towards north and west the peak is steeply cut, while the southern side descends in a more gentle way through green meadows towards the Soča valley.

Always itching for some mountaintop panoramas, we set our sights on an out-and-back summit hike up Mount Krn, towering over the southwestern corner of the national park at 7,365 feet (2,245 meters). Several trails lead up to Krn’s summit, and we opted for the one that passed by Krn Lake (Krnsko Jezero), Slovenia’s largest alpine lake.
