MUC6 expression is a preferable prognostic marker for invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung. Glycosylation of MUC6 by alpha1,4-linked N-acetylglucosamine enhances suppression of pancreatic cancer malignancy.

We designed this retrospective study to demonstrate profiles of MUC expression (MUC1, MUC2, MUC5AC, and MUC6) of different histologic patterns within the same tumor among pulmonary adenocarcinomas and investigate correlations of MUC expression with clinicopathologic features.
