March 15, 2024, Manila, Philippines—Prime Energy Resources Development B.V. (Prime Energy) recently awarded a major contract for the Malampaya Phase IV Project to Noble, one of the largest offshore drilling contractors in the world.

The Malampaya Deepwater Gas-to-Power project utilizes state-of-the-art technology to extract natural gas and condensate from the depths of the Palawan basin. It then processes the gas in a nearby shallow water production platform and transports it across three provinces through a 504-km (313-mile) underwater pipeline.

Since its inception in 2001, Malampaya has been providing a stable supply of energy, meeting 35 to 40 percent of Luzon’s power needs. Malampaya derives natural gas from the Camago-Malampaya reservoir, a gigantic reserve of natural gas discovered in 1992 by Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX).
