The old Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg is a true work of outstanding German civil engineering. With a depth of 24 m, the 427 m long tunnel connects St. Pauli and Steinwerder.

The Alter Elbtunnel, also known as St. Pauli Elbe Tunnel, is a pedestrian and vehicle tunnel in Hamburg, Germany. Opened in 1911, it connects central Hamburg with the docks and shipyards on the southern side of the River Elbe.
