Jul 15, 2023 · Hey guys, I got a brand new Trek Marlin 7 and I love the bike, but I wanted to be able to cruise on it a bit faster, I find I spin out going downhill on the highest gear often. Was thinking of getting an FSA gamma pro replacement chainring with 32T.

Dec 29, 2022 · Since it was a Gen 2 Marlin 7 made during the parts shortages, Trek already included the Marlin 8 tires and used special Trek-only wheels. Carbon seatpost and Fizik Antares R3 were mandatory for me. I have the full Shimano Hollowtech crankset upgrade ready to go, just haven't had a chance to do the install yet before winter.

Dec 28, 2020 · yeah 2021 Trek Marlin 7 is a great bike. The Marlin series is more of an entry level brand, but I still think its good enough for trail riding. Two of my friends own a Marlin 5, and they are still very satisfied with it, so I assume a 2021 Trek Marlin 7 would be more than good enough.

May 19, 2020 · Hello, I just picked up a new Marlin 7 (XL) and love it. I didn't think I'd want an upgrade this soon, but a dropper seatpost seems like a no brainier.

Hello, I don't have any recommendations on others around the same price point, but when I was shopping for a mountain bike, I ended up going with the Roscoe 7 (cheapest Trek with dropper seatpost, but there is a lower model of 6 which is now possibly on sale in 2019 model).

Jan 24, 2022 · I went through this whole process last year. If you are thinking of substantial rides on trails, I strongly recommend Roscoe 6. Roscoe 6 is the old model. Roscoe 7+ are the 2022 models, which are way better. Therefore, if possible, grab a Roscoe 7 or up. If you are mainly for commute and flat/paved/gravel riding, then Marlin 7 is excellent ...

Aug 26, 2021 · But doing the swap on the Marlin 7 is a easy breezy job especially if you're using non-stock pedals that have a hex on the spindle. I just had to remove the right pedal (using 15mm box wrench and a hammer because it was the stock VP-536 that Trek includes) and then remove the 4x 5mm hex screws from the chain ring.

Aug 28, 2022 · I figured to start a new thread but there's another good one for 28T to 34T. Bottom line is that it is easy to swap the chainring on the Marlin 7. The right pedal comes off and the ring can be clocked and removed from the spindle. Some people feel compelled that the crank has to be removed, which is untrue.

I know this is an old thread but I also assume that means you’ve ridden it by now. I’m getting a 170 cascade as well for my 2021 marlin 7 and wanted to know what size frame you have on your marlin. I know the geometry between 2020 and 2021 aren’t very different so i’m just curious as to how it fits and how it rides.
