2022年7月14日 · Hey all, just updating this as I was looking at the old threads since I just bought a used 1996 Martin DM here in 2021 near the end of the pandemic and the seller wanted 500, so the price hasn't really gone down. Now I negotiated it for even less than that, but I'll tell you I also see a 1996 DM for sale at guitar center in Sherman Oaks for $599.

2012年9月15日 · Tough call. Just remember that the DM will be much harder to find if you change your mind. I will say this: About 10 years ago when selecting my first nice acoustic, it came down to the DM or a Taylor 110 (mainly because I only new about Martin and Taylor). The Taylor 110 left the store with me even though I had originally wanted a Martin.

2015年5月10日 · I had one of the last Martin DM's, bought in on clearance. It was a killer guitar. It's my biggest regret as far as letting guitars go. I just bought a used one about a month ago and it just wasn't the same. I'd make sure it was in decent condition as these have been out of production for awhile so they will all be used and probably from the 90's.

2015年3月1日 · Re: price, I think you should find a significant savings on a DM, if that's what you decide to go with. I'm not sure why you would go with a new/old stock DM. Check ebay. Used DM's sell every week on ebay for $400-$450, sometimes below. That's really a bargain for an American-made Martin (laminated back and sides or no).

2008年7月6日 · Since then I've purchased a 3K Taylor, and a 3K Breedlove and the old Martin DM still "holds it's own"! With a great spruce top with well placed braces, that's where 80% of good sound comes from. It is missing that sweet last 20% (which is attributably to solid back and sides) but the 80% is a sweet, sweet 80%.

2017年12月18日 · A friend uses Martin Custom Lights (SP4050). His DM was one I was given when I bought a used D-18GE. It had been brutally crushed with a broken neck and collapse top, and after we got it fixed up (came out great!) I gave to him, suggesting he go easy on string tension in light of its history.

2009年6月5日 · My DM is the poor mans D18 with a bone sadddle and buffalo horn pins it is a killer playing bluegrass. to be honest the best strings I have tried are Martin SP medium phors. bronze 2nd the FX mediums.

2011年2月2日 · My duo partner uses Martin Custom Lights on his DM, they sound great. He tried D'Addario custom lights (sounded awful, really). You might like to try D'Addario Bluegrass gauge (my favorites on my dreads) or the Martin Bluegrass, or Martin Medium/lights. Experiment, strings aren't expensive. Don't go heavier than mediums, though.
