He is in the manga more, but not an incredible amount, and your reaction is basically summarizing OP's entire post. If you google "Matt Death Note" you'll see a LOT more shit than you expect, which is odd considering how tiny his role is in the story. People fucking cosplay as this glorified background character.

2019年12月7日 · The manga is much more detailed, particularly the second half - the additional members of Near and Mello's respective teams are more fleshed out, which is where Matt comes in. I remember being a bit surprised by how short the anime was considering the amount of content in the manga.

Because Matt's and Mello's friendship is really the only true mutual friendship of anyone investigating Kira in the whole series. They grew up together and both care about each other well being. That itself makes him interesting. Matt is the only smart member on Mello's team.
