2010年12月14日 · The VZ24 is a great action for building a custom on the 98 Mauser platform - I have four of them myself (6.5-06AI, 338WM, 22-250Rem, and one bare action waiting on a 22-6mm barrel) I built the 22-250 myself, and just finished a 7X57 on a small-ring Kar98a action. Be careful - it gets addictive!

2013年11月29日 · I have been down this road a couple of times. Long story short the Mauser 98 action is a great action, but by the time you spend the money on bending the bolt, buying the rifle, blue printing etc you could just about buy a custom action ready for a barrel. If you want a 98 action buy a commercial one. I had a MK X built in 1989.

2017年8月28日 · Guy dropped off a what appears to be a sporterized Columbian 98 chambered in 30-06. Wants a new 30-06 barrel on it. I was taught to have the shoulder and internal lug both touch. What are you guys doing? Both touch, front of receiver only, or internal lug only?

2012年10月4日 · In South Africa the Mauser action rifles are prominent since we build a lot of Dangerous Game and hunting rifles on these old Mauser 98 actions. Even members of long range shooting forums in South Africa said a Mauser 98 action is not suitable for a long range hunting/target rifle....

2005年4月22日 · I have been reading on this forum about using a Mauser action. Some are against it, some not. But here, its the cheapest action I can find for a new project. So I will use this action. But Im not sure what caliber. It has a .06 boltface, so I'll go down that road. Im thinking about a 6-06, 6-284, 257 Wby Mag. Im really not sure what caliber.

2015年3月21日 · The large ring Mauser action is still a great design, and with modern steel, can make very fine rifles, including std. magnums. I have examined one CZ 550M action, and believe it could handle even the "boomer" calibers. It is large, heavy, and long. The inside magazine box length was 3.9", (1/10th of an inch longer than a 9 lug MK V Weatherby).....

2012年1月13日 · I have a PREDUZECE 44 M98 MAUSER ACTION I orderd a stock and the maker was aware that my action screw holes were 7 13/16 center to center so im ok with that. But I started looking for hinged bottom metal and all I find is 7 7/8 and they say that its for the model 98 mauser. Im realy confused and frustrated any help is appreciated. Thanks Keith

2011年4月10日 · The Mauser Model Argentino 1909 has been a popular basis to build a sporterized action from, due to the quality of workmanship requested in those actions and the "bottom metal" which has a hinged floor plate for the magazine. The Argentine Army took very good care of these rifles and many still have beautiful bluing on the metal work.

2021年1月25日 · Maybe this is a good place to ask this question & maybe not. I've searched & have come up empty handed. I have a Mauser 98 large ring that was handed down from my dad. He bought a used Wilson barrel in 6mm-284 & was told it was for a 98 large ring. Problem is the barrel threads are right at .004 bigger than the action & it won't screw on.
