The Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT) is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization that was founded in 1975. It is one of the largest state associations that represents more than 3,000 Veterinary Technicians working in a wide variety of veterinary related fields.

MAVT Scholarships. MAVT Awards 6 Scholarships per year. $5,000 will be awarded through the veterinary technician schools listed below and $1,000 through the Mollie Jean Mahowald Scholarship listed further down this page. In some cases, the schools will match the scholarships!

MAVT does NOT certify technicians. Obtaining or renewing your certification must be done through the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA.) While we participate in the renewal process and may be able to answer some of your questions, all final decisions regarding certification of technicians in Minnesota are made by MVMA.

Dear MAVT Members: The Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine will be posting the proposed rules governing the new veterinary technician licensing statutes very soon. A public comment period will open shortly thereafter.
