The first Messerschmitt Me 209 was a single-engine racing aircraft designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt. It successfully established several new speed records.

2019年6月23日 · The Messerschmitt Me 209-II was a proposed successor to the far-reaching Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter. The Bf 109 was the standard German Luftwaffe fighter of World War 2 and developed quite a reputation during the conflict, lasting from beginning to end and appearing in multiple variants numbering some 33,000 production examples in whole.

The Me 209 V1-V3 was designed as a racer, in fact, the V-1 held the absolute speed record for piston engined aircraft until 1969. The V-4 was a fighter prototype. V-5 was a new aircraft with the same 209 designation (sometimes referred to as the 209 II).

The Me 209 V5 featured armament of one Motorkanone engine-mounted 30 mm (1.18 in) MK 108 cannon plus two 13 mm (.51 in) MG 131 machine guns in the wing roots. The V6 was the first version to be converted to use the Jumo 213 engine and had 20 mm MG 151/20 cannon instead of the MG 131s.
