The Multinational Force & Observers (MFO), headquartered in Rome, is an international peacekeeping organization, created by agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel.
MFO - Origins - Multinational Force and Observers
The origins of the MFO lie in Annex I to the Treaty of Peace. The area subject to Annex I is divided into four zones: Zones A, B, and C in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and Zone D in Israel. Zones C and D are adjacent to the international border.

MFO - South Camp - Multinational Force and Observers
The MFO's South Camp, near Sharm el Sheikh on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, is situated on a bluff overlooking the Red Sea. It houses the Force Headquarters and serves as the operational and logistical base for MFO activities in the southern sector of Zone C.

The Norwegians have been with the MFO since its inception. Over one hundred Norwegians have served with the Force. Norway has also provided a total of four Force Commanders: LTG Frederick Bull-Hansen (1982 to 1984), LTG Egil Ingebrigsten (1984 to 1989), MG Tryggve Tellefsen (1997 to 2001), and MG Kjell Ludvigsen (2007 to 2010).

Currently, the contingent provides a Transport and Engineering Unit (TREU) in support of the MFO mission. The Contingent The Transport Section of experienced drivers operates and drives the MFO fleet of trucks, busses, and light vehicles transporting personnel and cargo throughout the mission area.
