The Mil Mi-8 (Russian: Ми-8, NATO reporting name: Hip) is a medium twin-turbine helicopter, originally designed by the Soviet Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) in the 1960s and introduced into the Soviet Air Force in 1968. Russian production of the aircraft model still continues as of 2024. [1]

The Mi-8TV (NATO reporting name: Hip), introduced in Update "Sons of Attila", is a early member of the venerable Mi-8 family. The Mi-8 functions as a major upgrade to the previous Mi-4AV, and a decent sidegrade to the early Mi-24A.

Nicaraguan and East German forces used this version, which by any logic was called Mi-8TVK (K for Kommercheskiy - commercial (2)) and was named "Hip-F" in the NATO nomenclature. These helicopters were, however, commonly known as Mi-8TB or TBK.

On September 17, 1962, the Hip B, modified with two TV2-117 1,482-horsepower turboshafts mounted atop the fuselage, and a five-bladed main rotor system measuring 70 feet in diameter, took flight.
