The Iu Mien language (Iu Mien: Iu Mienh, [ju˧ mjɛn˧˩]; Chinese: 勉語 or 勉方言; Thai: ภาษาอิวเมี่ยน) is the language spoken by the Iu Mien people in China (where they are considered a constituent group of the Yao peoples), Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and, more recently, the United States in diaspora.

The Iu Mien people (Iu Mienh 勉) are a subgroup of the Pan Yao branch of the Yao nationality, which is the largest of the three major Yao groups according to the Nationalities Affairs Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China.

Since their arrival, the Iu-Mien language has been slowly disappearing. A majority of third generation Iu-Mien are fluent in English but cannot converse in Mienh. Many Iu-Mien have abandoned the Taoist/Animist religion and converted to Christianity.

The "mienh waac" or the Mien dialect is highly tonal and is closely related to Mandarin Chinese. The Mien dialect has 5 tones, namely, the middle tones, low tones, rising tones, falling tones, and rising-falling tones. Their old people are usually fluent in Chinese and are able to write it legibly.

Iu Mien (Iu Mienh) Iu Mien is a Hmong-Mien language spoken by about 840,000 people, mainly in China, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and also in the USA. Iu Mien speakers are known as Yao - 瑶族 in Chinese, and người Dao in Vietnamese.
