Michael Edward Utley (born 1947) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and was the musical director and keyboard player for Jimmy Buffett 's Coral Reefer Band. After Buffett's death he retired from touring and was replaced by his son Mick who had been in the band in a part-time role for a few years.

Michael Edward Utley (born 1947) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and was the musical director and keyboard player for Jimmy Buffett 's Coral Reefer Band. After Buffett's death he retired from touring and was replaced by his son Mick who had been in the band in a part-time role for a few years.

After he graduated from college with a BA in Zoology, Mike moved to Memphis and began working full time as a musician. In February 1973, after Jimmy Buffett had moved to Key West from Nashville, he heard Utley playing on one of Jerry Jeff Walker's albums.
