Apollo Milton Obote (28 December 1925 – 10 October 2005) was a Ugandan politician who served as the second prime minister of Uganda from 1962 to 1966 and the second president of Uganda from 1966 to 1971 and later from 1980 to 1985.

Milton Obote was a significant political figure in Uganda, born as Apollo Milton Obote in 1925 to a minor chief in the Lengo tribe. He was educated at a Protestant mission school and Makerere University, where his radical views led to his expulsion.

Following Uganda's independence, Milton Obote became the country's first prime minister after winning hastily organized elections. Four years later, he and the deputy army commander, Idi Amin, were accused of corruption and gold smuggling.
