2024年10月21日 · The Mirror Lake Trail has the misfortune of being one of the few hikes accessible directly from Highway 26 and thus suffers a crush of visitors on weekends. The attention is well-deserved: The well-graded trail takes you to a serene mountain lake with picture-postcard views of Mount Hood and rugged Tom Dick and Harry Mountain towering above.

Traveling from the parking area and trailhead, you will hike roughly 2 miles before coming to Mirror Lake. This is a great place for a picnic and a swim during warmer months! The trip up crosses meadows and travels over bridged streams, with lots of wildflowers in the spring.

Hiking beyond the lake up to Tom Dick and Harry Ridge and into the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness is a more challenging hike with a view of the Cascade Range. The 1.9 miles from the trailhead to the lake gains 460 feet at a steady, moderate climb.

Provides access to: Mirror Lake Trail #664, which accesses Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. Toilets maintained May 1st - October 31st. Northwest Forest pass and Interagency pass is accepted in lieu of day use fee. Winter use: Sno-Park Permit is required. Oregon Sno-Park permit is required in designated sno-parks from November 1 through April 30.

Mirror Lake is one of the most popular destinations for day-hikers in the Mt Hood National Forest. The beautiful lake sits in a small basin high on the slopes of Tom Dick and Harry Mountain and the views across the lake to towering Mt Hood are stunning.

Most photograph the "classic" view from the boardwalk that curves through the marsh on the south shore. However, for the best photos, continue to the east end of the boardwalk, then follow a short path past a shady campsite to the shoreline—and the instantly recognizable "classic" view.
