Mitzvah Day is the UK’s largest faith-led day of social action. Over 55,000 people around the world, come together to give our time, to make a difference to the community around us. We introduce people to social action, to their neighbours and to local charities, setting up projects, which address real needs.

Mitzvah Day in Akron was created by Temple Israel in 2002 and is a day-long effort committed to helping different agencies in and outside the Akron community by collaborating with other faith-based organizations in the Akron Community.

In keeping with Judaism’s teachings of tikkun olam, to repair the world, Mitzvah Day inspires participants to pursue justice through social activism. In the years since its inception, Mitzvah Day has evolved into one of the Congregation’s largest annual events and serves as a national model adopted by synagogues worldwide.
