Mohini Dey was born and brought up in Mumbai. Her parents recognized her talent when she was just 3, they started nurturing it. She got her first bass guitar when she was nine or ten. She started performing at 11 and was mentored by Louis Banks. Her talent was noticed by her father’s friend Ranjit Barot, who took her on his band’s tours.
