Mopeia virus - Wikipedia
Mopeia virus (MOPV) is a species of virus in the genus Mammarenavirus. [1] It was initially isolated from the Mastomys natalensis mouse in the East African country of Mozambique in 1977. [2] [3] [4] It is of the "Old World" Arenavirus lineage and is closely related to Lassa mammarenavirus, sharing 75% of its amino acid sequence. [5] [6]

Molecular screening detected a new arenavirus in Natal multimammate mice (Mastomys natalensis), Mo-rogoro virus, related to Mopeia virus. Only a small percent-age of mice carry Morogoro virus, although a large propor-tion shows specifi c antibodies. are segmented negative-strand RNA vi-ruses. Their natural hosts are various rodent species.

2022年3月1日 · Mopeia virus is the Arenavirus circulating in M. natalensis population from all habitats and localities. The viruses we detected formed a specific Mopeia virus clade different from the previously clade identified in the country. There is a high genetic diversity of Mopeia virus with eight sub-clusters in the study area.
Non-Pathogenic Mopeia Virus Induces More Robust Activation of ...
We compared the response of primary human pDCs to LASV and Mopeia virus (MOPV), which is very closely related to LASV, but non-pathogenic. We showed that pDCs are not productively infected by either MOPV or LASV, but produce IFN-I.

Here, we show that the expression of the Z protein and nucleoprotein (NP) of Mopeia virus, a close relative of the pathogenic Lassa virus, resulted in the highly selective incorporation of the NP protein into Z protein-induced VLPs.

Detection and genetic diversity of Mopeia virus in Mastomys
Mopeia virus was described for the first time in M. natalensis in the central Mozambique in 1977 but few studies have been conducted in the region. In this study, rodents were trapped between March and November 2019in villages, croplands fields and mopane woodland forest.
