The band started as Charmock and Hex in 1990 and became Morgul in 1991. Jack D. Ripper subsequently relocated to Detroit, Michigan in the USA. Morgul is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band formed in Råde in 1991. In 1991 Morgul recorded two demo tapes: Vargvinter and In Gowns Flowing Wide, which were spread through the underground. Eventually this garnered them a deal with Napalm Records.
