The Mitsubishi MU-2 is a Japanese high-wing, twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a pressurized cabin manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It made its maiden flight in September 1963 and was produced until 1986. It is one of postwar Japan's most successful aircraft, with 704 manufactured in Japan and San Angelo, Texas, in the United States.

From the ground up, the MU-2 airplane was designed to be powered by a turbo propeller engine. Most manufacturers of the time started with an airplane for reciprocating engines and then, later, would hang turboprop engines on their aircraft.

From the compact size to the very sturdy landing gear (which was copied from the F-104 Starfighter), the MU-2 exudes trust. This aircraft weighs more than the new light jets, resulting in an exceptionally robust airframe.

2015年3月19日 · Mitsubishi’s MU-2 twin turboprop gained FAA type certification in 1965. Initial U.S. production and sales were handled through an arrangement with Mooney Aircraft from a facility in San Angelo, Texas. By 1969, Mooney had fallen on hard times—a familiar theme for the company—and Mitsubishi stepped in to continue production and support.
