2008年8月11日 · First thing out of the way: The length of the DSB got nothing to do with the flow rate as measured with the flow direction over DSB chamber. The flow rate is directly related to the width of the DSB as measured from front to back or across the flow direction. Now that is an important aspect. We want the water to move at a certain water speed.

2012年5月28日 · The "golden" rule of 3 to 5 times your system volume per hour is in my mind not a correct method. It really depends on the width of the sump. Basically you want good strong flow from the inlet to outlet across the DSB. So its the flow rate that should be correct.

2011年8月10日 · Even in my current sump, being 430mm wide, I replaced the 300L/h with a 5000L/h pump. A lot better flow over the DSB, but now my display tank overflow cannot handle the extra flow. Especially withthe combs in place. I split the return line, and redirect some flow to my refugium. The refugium flows back to my DSB inlet side.

2015年6月2日 · I run Caulerpa, Chaetomorpha and Assorted Red Algae Plant in my DSB, My nitrate, nitrite, ammonia and phosphates are all all sitting at almost undetectable and have not had a spike since I initially setup up my tank. I have e 20W Energy Saver over my DSB running 24hrs a day. Planning to go the same route with my 560L tank within the next 2 weeks.

2009年6月25日 · Howdy, I added some cheato to my DSB approx 2-weeks back. The cheato is going black on top and there is also some part turning an ash grey color, is the cheato dying ? I have one 18watt energy spotlight (par 38 style). Might it be starving i.e. not enought nitrates/phosphate in water?

2008年8月11日 · That way you can fine tune your DSB flow rate, and have a higher turnover return pump. Personally I'd go for more like 10-15x, i.e. 5000-7500 l/hr effective, which given a head of about 1.4m means you need a pump nominally rated at more than this.
