Scripture scholar William Barclay talks about an old legend that says Jesus of Nazareth constructed the best oxen yokes in all of Galilee:

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” “Rest for your soul,” Jesus offers us in this gospel reading.

That’s why we invites and promises: “Come to me…for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Now, the Jews in his audience were familiar with talk about wearing a “yoke”. In their faith, commitment to following God’s instruction and seeking to live one’s life under God’s wisdom was referred to as wearing a “yoke”.

2017年7月9日 · When Jesus said “My yoke is easy,” it simply meant that the yoke of Jesus fit well. If the yoke does not fit the ox, the ox will find it hard to carry the loads. On the other hand, if the yoke fits well the ox, then it is easy for the ox to carry heavy loads.
