In 1928, Renault succeeded in his attempt to get his Renault NC accepted as the basis for further light infantry tank development; he was granted an order to build two prototypes. The Army called this project the Char D , Renault used the designation NC28 .

2017年5月27日 · To replace this "pensioner", Renault designed a new tank called the Renault NC. Why were foreign armies more interested in this tank than the French? Path of least resistance. Aside from reliability issues with rapidly ageing tanks, serious financial issues influenced further development.

In Sweden the single NC was designated fm/28, and used during the 30s, primarily for driver training. Below you can see photos of the World’s only remaining copy of the NC. Swedish fm/28 tank tracks had poor grip. Several fact finding trips were made across Europe, Renault had developed a new prototype tank based on its successful FT-17. The named this new tank the Renault NC model 26/27 (later referred to as NC 27). The armies of Japan and Poland were also interested in this tank and later purchased them.
