NFPA 252 was first issued by the NFPA in 1942. ASTM E152 was withdrawn by ASTM in 1995 and replaced by ASTM E2074, Standard Test Method for Fire Tests of Door Assemblies, Including Positive Pressure Testing of Side-Hinged and Pivoted Swinging Door Assemblies , which was, in turn, withdrawn in 2007 to avoid duplication with NFPA 252.

Manufacturers and testing laboratories use NFPA 252 to evaluate resistance to flame, heat, and gases passing through door openings in fire-resistive walls.

Section 725.144 of NFPA 70 limits the number of 4-pair cables that can be bundled based on the current provided by the power source for these systems. The current rating marked on the power source equipment as required by 725.121(C) of NFPA 70 for the outputs can be used to apply the requirements of 725.144 of NFPA 70.

A.3.3.2 The acceptance criteria for determining fire protection ratings for fire door assemblies are described in NFPA 252 and those for fire window assemblies are described in NFPA 257.

Statement of Problem and Substantiation for Public Input The revised language in 4.3.1 is being taken out of NFPA 252 for further clarity. The other revisions simply add section numbers for compliance with the Manual of Style
