2025年2月3日 · Within Chapter 3 is Article 300, titled General Requirements for Wiring Methods and Materials. This article is essentially a catchall for wiring methods not covered in each specific article within Chapter 3. To figure out exactly where in Article 300 we need to go, we must determine the type of wiring method and where it is being installed.

Article 300 - Wiring Methods - General Requirements 300-1. Scope. (a) The provisions of Chapter 3 apply to the electrical and mechanical requirements for the various methods of installing fixed electrical conductors for electric light, heat, power, and certain signal systems. (b) The provisions of this Article shall apply to all wiring

2025年2月7日 · The NFPA has published guidance on NEC Article 300, detailing general requirements for wiring methods and materials. The guidance, written by NFPA Senior Electrical Specialist Dean Austin, explains key provisions related to underground wiring, wet location classifications, conduit movement due to frost heave, and trench backfilling requirements.

NEC Table 300.5 provides minimum cover requirements for wiring methods and raceways from zero to 1000 volts. There is a common misconception that spare, unused raceways and low voltage installations are exempt from the requirements in the table.

Conductors in wiring methods with a nonmetallic or other nonmagnetic sheath, where run in different raceways, auxiliary gutters, cable trays, trenches, cables, or cords, shall comply with 300.20 (B). Conductors in single-conductor Type MI cable with a nonmagnetic sheath shall comply with 332.31.

2021年2月28日 · 300.42 Moisture or Mechanical Protection for Metal-Sheathed Cables. Where cable conductors emerge from a metal sheath and where protection against moisture or physical damage is necessary, the insulation of the conductors shall be protected by a cable sheath terminating device.

2022年7月26日 · Fire suppression systems that meet the UL 300 standard are significantly more effective at controlling kitchen fires than systems designed to meet previous standards. Most states have adopted NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 as a part of their fire code, requiring all commercial kitchen fire suppression systems to be UL 300 compliant.
