NGC 1818 is a young globular cluster in the north-west part of the Large Magellanic Cloud, about 3.2 kpc from the center. [7] It was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop in 1826, [8] and has since been well studied. [4]

NGC 1818 is a very young globular cluster located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Based on the populations of the different spectral classes of stars, it is estimated to be only about 20 million years old, compared to ages of about 13 billion years for globular clusters in the Milky Way.
