NGC 2537, also known as the Bear Paw Galaxy, Bear Claw Galaxy, Arp 6, or Mrk 86, is a blue compact dwarf galaxy in the constellation Lynx, located around 3 degrees NNW of 31 Lyncis. [2] It was discovered on 6 February 1788 by German-British astronomer William Herschel .

The small spiral galaxy NGC 2537A (MCG+08-15-051) four arcminutes to the east shows a redshift of z=0.04001 and therefore is much further away and not associated with its optical neighbour.

The much smaller and dimmer galaxy to its left is NGC 2537A, a 3-arm spiral galaxy that is much farther away. Toward the bottom of this image is IC 2233, an edge-on barred spiral galaxy. From our perspective it appears as a long thin line, thinner than any other galaxy I know of.
