NGC 3001 est une vaste galaxie spirale intermédiaire située dans la constellation de la Machine pneumatique. Sa vitesse par rapport au fond diffus cosmologique est de 2 782 ± 23 km/s, ce qui correspond à une distance de Hubble de 41,0 ± 2,9 Mpc (∼134 millions d'al) [1].
