NGC 3314 - Wikipedia
NGC 3314 is a pair of overlapping spiral galaxies between 117 and 140 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra. This unique alignment gives astronomers the opportunity to measure the properties of interstellar dust in the face-on foreground galaxy (NGC 3314a).
Lined-Up Galaxies Show Rare Details (NGC 3314) - Science@NASA
2000年5月11日 · NGC 3314 lies about 140 million light-years from Earth, in the direction of the southern hemisphere constellation Hydra. The bright blue stars forming a pinwheel shape near the center of the front galaxy have formed recently from interstellar gas and dust.

This Hubble image of NGC 1376 reveals how the overlapping galaxy NGC 3314A might look if it were seen alone in space. NGC 3370, shown in this Hubble image, has the same general shape and orientation as the overlapping galaxy NGC 3314B.
Chance Alignment Between Galaxies Mimics a Cosmic Collision
2012年6月14日 · NASA's Hubble Space Telescope shows a rare view of a pair of overlapping galaxies, called NGC 3314. The two galaxies look as if they are colliding, but they are actually separated by tens of millions of light-years, or about ten …

APOD: 2011 July 15 - NGC 3314: When Galaxies Overlap
2011年7月15日 · NGC 3314 is about 140 million light-years (background galaxy) and 117 million light-years (foreground galaxy) away in the multi-headed constellation Hydra. The background galaxy would span nearly 70,000 light-years at its estimated distance.
APOD: 2021 November 17 - NGC 3314: When Galaxies Overlap
The featured Hubble image of NGC 3314 shows two large spiral galaxies which happen to line up exactly. The foreground spiral NGC 3314a appears nearly face-on with its pinwheel shape defined by young bright star clusters.
APOD: 2005 May 7 - NGC 3314: When Galaxies Overlap
The dust lanes are surprisingly pervasive, and this remarkable pair of overlapping galaxies is one of a small number of systems in which absorption of visible light can be used to directly explore the distribution of dust in distant spirals. NGC 3314 is about 140 million light-years away in the multi-headed constellation Hydra.
