NGC 3596 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo. It was discovered by William Herschel 1784. It is located below the star Theta Leonis (Chertan). [2] It is a member of the Leo II Groups, a series of galaxies and galaxy clusters strung out from the right edge of the Virgo Supercluster. [3]

This image combines Hydrogen-alpha emission (red), visible light in the R-band (white), and neutral hydrogen 21cm gas emission (blue) from the Very Large Array (VLA). What you see when you combine the invisible waves with visible ones is the enormous shroud of gas surrounding this galaxy.

2024年5月7日 · This Astrobin Debut Object is a near face-on spiral galaxy located 90 million light years away in the constellation of Leo at a declination of +15 degrees. It is a magnitude 11.3 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view. This corresponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 110,000 light years.
