NGC 4151 - Wikipedia
NGC 4151 is an intermediate spiral Seyfert galaxy with weak inner ring structure located 15.8 megaparsecs (52 million light-years) from Earth [4] in the constellation Canes Venatici. The galaxy was first mentioned by William Herschel on March 17, 1787; it was one of the six Seyfert galaxies described in the paper [5] which defined the term.

NGC 4151 is a spiral galaxy with an actively growing supermassive black hole at its center. This composite image of NGC 4151 contains X-rays from Chandra (blue), optical data (yellow), and radio emission (red). The structure has been dubbed "The Eye of Sauron" by astronomers due to its resemblance to the character in "The Lord of the Rings" movies.

'Eye of Sauron' Opens Galactic Vistas to Astronomers
2014年11月26日 · The cosmic-yardstick breakthrough came courtesy of the galaxy NGC 4151, dubbed the Eye of Sauron because it resembles the baleful bad guy in The Lord of the Rings.
Ring of Fire - NASA
2011年12月27日 · NGC 4151 is located about 43 million light years away from the Earth and is one of the nearest galaxies that contains an actively growing black hole. Because of this proximity, it offers one of the best chances of studying the interaction between an active supermassive black hole and the surrounding gas of its host galaxy.
The Iron Grip of the Black Hole in NGC 4151
The galaxy NGC 4151 is one of the closest active galaxies to our own Milky Way. Like the Milky Way, NGC 4151 is also a spiral galaxy, but unlike the Milky Way, NGC 4151 hosts a supermassive black hole near the galactic center, a black hole that is actively swallowing about an earth's mass of nearby gas and dust every minute from a torus of ...
ESA Science & Technology - Galaxy NGC 4151
2019年9月1日 · NGC 4151 is a Seyfert galaxy and hosts one of the brightest active galactic nuclei (AGN) known at X-ray wavelengths. The supermassive black hole lying at the centre of NGC 4151 has a mass of about 50 million solar masses.
