Messier 91 (also known as NGC 4548 or M91) [4][5] is a barred spiral galaxy that is found in the south of Coma Berenices. It is in the local supercluster and is part of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies. It is about 63 million light-years away from our galaxy.

Messier 91 (M91), also known as NGC 4548, is a barred spiral galaxy located within the constellation Coma Berenices. It forms part of the Virgo Cluster, a massive cluster of galaxies in the vicinity of the Virgo and Coma Berenices constellations. M91 was cataloged by French astronomer Charles Messier in 1781.

2020年6月30日 · M91 is a spiral galaxy of type SBb in the constellation Coma Berenices. The bar is quite conspicuous. M91 was considered the `lost' Messier object: see the discussion at the Web site of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space.

The galaxy NGC 4548 (M91) belongs to the Hubble class SB (rs)b. Its disk is inclined by 35° with respect to the sky plane. This galaxy has a distance median value of 15.8 Mpc. Its radio emission (in the image center) is weak due to the low gas density and the low rate of star formation.

NGC 4548 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices. Two different teams using the Hubble Space Telescope estimate its distance to be 48 to 58 million light years. It is therefore a member of the Coma-Virgo Galaxy Cluster. The spiral arms inner parts form an incomplete ring just outside of the bar.

2022年4月7日 · Messier 91, NGC 4548, is a very faint barred spiral galaxy located 63 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It is considered to be an “anemic” galaxy, because of the very low rate of star formation.
