NGC 5395 is an interacting spiral galaxy located at a distance of 160 million light years, but receding away from the Earth at 3511 kilometers (2181.6 miles) per second, in the constellation Canes Venatici.

This galaxy belongs to the class of spiral galaxies with a large, high-surface-brightness companion on one arm (Arp catalog). The two galaxies were discovered by William Herschel on May 16, 1787 and were later given the names NGC 5394 and NGC 5395 respectively in the New General Catalog. ============= Source: Wikipedia =================

Spectroscopic and imaging observations of NGC 5395, and images of its companion NGC 5394 are presented. These results show quite clearly that the spiral arms of NGC 5395 are trailing, as is usual, despite claims by Pasha and Smirnov (1982) that NGC 5395 is a leading-arm galaxy.
