Discovered by Sir John Herschel at the Cape of Good Hope with an 18-inch f/13 speculum telescope. He recorded it as "pB, R, vgvlbM, 60 arcseconds." On a second occassion he called it "pB, R, vgvlbM, 70 arcseconds." From: "Neat Southern Planetaries - IV." This region of the sky is an interesting, yet often neglected area by amateur observers.

NGC5844 - Planetary Nebula (jlangston_astro) - AstroBin
This is a interesting planetary nebula in Triangulum Australe that seems to be rarely imaged, less so in natural colour via OSC. It is 70x50 arcsec in size around Mag13.2. Apparently it does have a very faint halo around it that extends about 75% to the bright star (around 4.5arcmin size) only discovered in 1998, but not visible in this image.
